Meet Pablo,
our Spanish tutor

Pablo is a native Spanish speaker with a Bachelor’s degree in Translation and Interpreting. He joined Conway in September 2023 and has been teaching Spanish here ever since.

He runs an 8-week beginner course covering the basics, grammar, vocabulary, the kind of everyday language you actually need, and an intermediate course for students who want to take things further. Outside of teaching, he enjoys rock climbing and cooking, and is always on the lookout for a new recipe to try.

Becoming part of a community

Joining one of Pablo’s classes means more than just turning up to learn Spanish.

“Teaching Spanish at Conway has given me the opportunity to meet really good people,” he says. “It’s very easy to identify ‘community’ as one of the main values here.”

Students make friends, laugh together, and look out for one another. “You may sign up to learn Spanish,” Pablo says, “but you’ll end the course as part of a community, learning together and supporting each other.”

Building confidence

Pablo notices the way students support each other. “As a teacher, that is a great pride that I take in my class, I can see how students at Conway support each other in an amazing way.”

Learning something new isn’t always easy, but it doesn’t have to be a lonely experience. There’s a lot of laughter in Pablo’s classes, and people tend to relax into it pretty quickly.

Language, culture and a good laugh

The lessons are interactive and fun, good for practising your speaking and pronunciation with someone who actually grew up speaking the language. Pablo brings a cultural side into the mix too, which makes a real difference. Language isn’t just words; it’s the people behind them.

He teaches popular idioms, throws in the odd joke, and is happy to field questions about places to visit and things to do. Students get to practise speaking, reading, writing and listening each week, and leave with a printed sheet of what they covered, useful for revisiting things at home.

Tailored to how you’ll use it

Most students come to Pablo’s classes because they want to travel, so that’s what the content is built around – ordering food, asking for directions, the situations you’ll actually find yourself in. It’s practical from the start.
